LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 2, 2026) – A house that has been vacant for 18 months has been given a new lease on life.
Last Thursday, the Laketown Township Building Authority approved a $410,000 deal for Holland Christian Schools to purchase the Wolters House and about 1.8 acres of surrounding land off of 147th Avenue. Holland Christian had used the building as a learning lab during the Academic 2024 year, but it has sat vacant since then.
The 2,260 square-foot residence was purchased by the municipality for $350,000 from the family of the Rev. Lloyd Wolters upon his passing in October of 2022, after they were instrumental in establishing a park there 30 years earlier. The family gave its blessing to this upcoming sale, as Rev. Wolters was a Holland Christian High graduate, and his father taught there about 100 years ago.
School officials say that the house will again be used as an outdoor learning hub, once remodeling is done. The deal should be closed shortly, with the township expected to put about $160,000 into the general fund once the mortgage is paid off through this sale.
