PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 27, 2026) – Park Township is poised to have a new operational leader.
During a special meeting on Tuesday evening, the Board of Trustees is expected to approve a contract with Matthew Butts to be the municipality’s new Township Manager. Butts, the Assistant City Manager for Grandville, interviewed for the position 10 days ago, along with fellow finalist Alison Nugent, Caledonia Township’s manager. On a 5-2 vote, the governing panel chose to offer the position to Butts.
Butts has already agreed to a deal worth $160,000 in an annual base salary, and if the pact is approved by the board, he will begin his new duties on March 2nd. He will replace Howard Fink, who resigned last August in the midst of a failed effort to fill the Laketown Township managerial post. Bill Cousins stepped out of retirement to handle the position on an interim basis.
The 6:30 PM special meeting of the Park Township Board of Trustees is at the township office (52 152nd Ave.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
