ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 23, 2026) – Two young men were injured in a two-vehicle crash west of Allendale on Friday morning.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga as first responders were dispatched to Lake Michigan Drive and 96th Avenue around 8:30 AM. That was where a northbound semi, pulling a trailer, had stopped for a stop sign, but then began to pull across M-45 and into the path of an eastbound sedan, who couldn’t avoid a collision and skidded underneath the trailer.
The driver of the sedan, a 21-year-old Grand Haven man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old man from West Olive, had to be extricated by rescue workers. Both men were taken to an unnamed “local hospital” for treatment of serious and non-life-threatening injuries, respectively. The trucker, a 52-year-old Oswego, Illinois man, was not hurt.
It took some time for Lake Michigan Drive to reopen due to the collision and subsequent activities. The incident remains under investigation.
