GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 20, 2026) – A 40-year-old Holland woman may spend the rest of her life behind bars for the death of her 17-year-old son nearly a year ago.
Katie Austin Lee was sentenced on Monday to at least 60 years, and as many as 90 years in prison by 20th Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing. She pled guilty last October to a second-degree murder charge, along with counts of resisting an officer, and of torture.
On February 21st of last year, Holland Public Safety officers responded to an incident in the Bay Pointe Apartments complex in which they had to subdue Lee by a taser after she had confronted them with a knife. It was determined that she had administered a drug or a sedative to Austin Pikaart before killing him with the knife.
