Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico and raised in Cayey, Lydia left the island at the age of 19 and began a new chapter in Michigan. Through perseverance, humility, and quiet strength, she built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. She made Holland, Michigan her home, where she worked in manufacturing and the agriculture industry while lovingly raising her family with dedication and resolve.
Lydia was a lifelong and faithful member of the Missionary Church of Christ. Her faith was not only professed but lived daily. She was actively involved in church ministries and activities throughout her life, finding purpose in worship, service, and fellowship. Her unwavering faith remained a steady anchor throughout every season of her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Ana Koehler of Byron Center, Michigan, and Carmen Longoria of Holland, Michigan whom she loved deeply and carried in her heart always.
Lydia is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Rumaldo Longoria, with whom she celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in August of 2025; her children R. Rey Longoria of Holland, Michigan, Aida Castillo and her husband Anthony of Wyoming, Michigan, Ray Longoria and his wife Gloria of Wichita, Kansas, and Iris Nereida Rivera of Puerto Rico; along with extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Pastor Benjamin Martinez will officiate. Visitation with the family prior to the service will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Following the burial there will be a Fellowship Meal at 633 Kingdom First Ministries, 244 North River Ave. Holland, MI 49424.
Lydia Longoria, de 91 años de edad, falleció en paz el martes 6 de enero de 2026, rodeada del amor y la presencia de su familia.
Nacida en Cayey, Puerto Rico, Lydia dejó la isla a los 19 años para comenzar una nueva etapa en Michigan. Con perseverancia, humildad y una fortaleza silenciosa, construyó una vida centrada en la fe, la familia y el trabajo arduo. Estableció su hogar en Holland, Michigan, donde trabajó en la industria manufacturera y agrícola mientras criaba a su familia con dedicación y determinación.
Lydia fue miembro fiel y de toda la vida de la Iglesia Misionera de Cristo. Su fe no solo la profesaba, sino que la vivía diariamente. Participó activamente en muchos ministerios y actividades de la iglesia, encontrando propósito en el servicio, la adoración y la comunión. Su fe inquebrantable fue un ancla constante en cada etapa de su vida.
Fue precedida en muerte por sus amadas hijas, Ana Koehler de Byron Center, Michigan, y Carmen Longoria de Holland, a quienes amó profundamente y llevó siempre en su corazón.
Le sobreviven su amado esposo de 71 años, Rumaldo Longoria, con quien celebró su 71 aniversario de matrimonio en agosto de 2025; sus hijos R. Rey Longoria de Holland, Michigan, Aida Castillo y su esposo Anthony de Wyoming, Michigan, Ray Longoria y su esposa Gloria de Wichita, Kansas, e Iris Nereida Rivera de Puerto Rico; además de familiares extendidos y queridos amigos.
El servicio fúnerario se realizará a las 11:00 a. m. del sábado 10 de enero de 2026 en la Funeraria Langeland-Sterenberg, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423. El pastor Benjamín Martínez oficiará la ceremonia. El velatorio familiar previo al servicio comenzará a las 10:00 a. m. El entierro se realizará en el Cementerio Pilgrim Home. Después del entierro, habrá una comida de confraternidad en Kingdom First Ministries, 633, North River Ave., 244, Holland, MI 49424.
