HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 7, 2025) – Looking ahead may seem to be the theme of activities at Holland City Hall on Wednesday evening.
Following the hour-long “Coffee with Council” gathering, in which residents and stakeholders can share their thoughts on the Tulip City with members of the governing panel, as well as other municipal leaders, the City Council will go over several items during its biweekly business meeting. Among the items to be discussed and voted on is the establishment of a Historic District Study Committee, required under state law, to start the process of selling a triangular plot of land boarded by Central Avenue, State Street and West 21st Street, that had been the site of the Tropical House greenhouse.
That structure was taken down brick-by-brick in November, with the goal of rebuilding a 27-foot by 27-foot portion as an open-air building, at Centennial Park later this year.
Holland City Manager Keith Van Beek discusses what Council will be asked to do.
Evergreen Commons officials have not publicly stated what specific plans they would have for this land.
“Coffee with Council” begins at 5 PM in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.), followed at 6 PM by the Holland City Council business meeting. The agenda and supporting documents for the meeting can be accessed here.
