HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 6, 2026) – An institution in downtown Holland has moved.
On Tuesday, Gateway Mission is slated to welcome its first guests to its new Men’s Mission building (643 S. Waverly Rd.), completing the renovation of the former Davenport University campus site. Not only will this more than double the space available, from 27,000 square feet at the former Men’s Mission off of West 7th Street and River Avenue, to 47,000 square feet, but according to Executive Director Jay Riemersma, guests will get more dignity, more privacy, more autonomy, and the incentive for good behavior will be enhanced.
The former Mission site, which had served the homeless in Holland for more than four decades, was sold a year ago to Underground Building Maintenance for $2.35 million, with no announcement of any plans disclosed thus far.
