ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 14, 2025) – The transfer of ownership and operations for a downtown Zeeland eatery highlights Monday evening’s biweekly City Council meeting.
The governing panel will be asked, following a required public hearing, to approve the move by Mandu Escapes in acquiring the La Créme Café on 111 E. Main Ave. In the transfer request, Mandu said that it would maintain current menu selections and hours of operation, with an interest of expanding to dinner service and Sunday hours.
The new owners, who live in Belmont, have no experience in operating such an establishment in the US, but has three years of such background in Nigeria, and have passed state requirements ahead of submitting its alcohol sales license transfer application with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission on October 31st. Council approval is needed before the state panel can rule on the application.
Council will also be asked to approve ordinances for electric and water terms of service from the Zeeland BPW, as well as accepting the Fiscal 2026 annual comprehensive financial report.
The Zeeland City Council has a work-study session at 6 PM prior to the 7 PM business meeting, both of which will be in the second-floor Chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
