LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 11, 2025) – The bird flu continues to confound poultry providers along the Lakeshore.
On Monday, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that a commercial flock in Allegan County tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza, as determined by Michigan State University’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. This is the second time an Allegan County flock was found with the virus this year, and comes five days after MDARD disclosed two Ottawa County flocks were infected, bringing that county’s total in 2025 to seven.
As is standard procedure, the agency refused to say how many birds were affected, and did not disclose details as to the precise location where the affected birds were at. MDARD uses these announcements more towards prevention of the spread of bird flu, and adds that the public health risk remains low. Efforts to mitigate the spread of the disease continue.
