GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 10, 2025) – With the Lakeshore under a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service, from 10 AM Monday through 4 AM on Tuesday, it’s time for area motorists to get back into seasonal driving habits.
Up to six inches of snow could fall in Ottawa and Allegan counties over the next 24 to 36 hours, and while much of the powder won’t be sticking to roads, the pavement will still be somewhat slick. Too often during that first snowfall of the season, drivers going too fast for the conditions lose control, causing crashes.
Could this also apply to crews attempting to clear roads? Alex Doty with the Ottawa County Road Commission doesn’t think so.
This is the second winter in Michigan for motorists to give active plow trucks about 200 feet of clearance, which translates from between 12 to 16 vehicle lengths, as well as 20 feet when Mr. Plow is stopped at an intersection.
Forecasters don’t believe that any snowfall this week will linger, with temperatures predicted to rise into the upper 40’s by Wednesday and into the mid 50’s by next weekend.
