Russell (Russ) C. Dubbink age 84, of Hamilton, died Friday, August 1, 2025 at Holland Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian in 2010. Russ met Vivian in 4th grade and they were married for 48 years.
Russ was a member of Hamilton Reformed Church and retired from Sligh Furniture after 40 plus years of employment. He started working at Sligh as a janitor and ended his career making grandfather clocks and roll top desks. He was inducted into the Grand Rapids Furniture Hall of Fame for his cabinet making skills. Russ was an avid fisherman, farmer and spent time as a Riverview Beef 4-H leader and Allegan County Fair volunteer for many years. One of his great loves was fishing and being called Fishing Gramps by his grandkids. His greatest joy was fishing with his kids, grandkids, and friends at Rice Lake in Canada. He didn’t care if he was catching fish as long as his kids and grandkids enjoyed themselves. He also enjoyed hunting with his brothers and nephews. As a farmer, he enjoyed raising pigs, meat chickens, cattle and having a garden. He had a definite pride in raising quality beef for his family.
Russ is survived by his children: Kevin and Lynn Dubbink, Karen and Steve Stevens, Kristin and Patrick Driscoll, Kayla and Isaac Park; Grandchildren: Ryan Dubbink (Fiancé Leigha Keck), Lauren Dubbink, Rachel Dubbink, Connor Stevens, Elani Stevens, Joshua Driscoll, Dustin Driscoll, Ashley Driscoll; in-laws, Mark and Mary Folkert, Char Folkert, Sharon Folkert, Steve (Norma) Hook; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
