SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 28, 2025) – It will apparently cost the city of Saugatuck a little more to contract for police services in Fiscal 2026.
During Monday night’s biweekly business meeting, the city council is expected to vote on approving a new three-year deal with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office for such oversight. In order to continue the relationship that has been in place since opting out of a pact with neighboring Douglas, the city will be asked to pay just over $36,000 more annually in this new arrangement. This is due to a change in the agreement, proposed by the Sheriff’s Office, which would turn over responsibility for deputies’ wages and benefits to the municipality, while the office would handle all additional expenses.
The Saugatuck City Council’s 6:30 PM business session will be in the second-floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
