GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 19, 2025) – The identity of a 26-year-old Grand Haven bicyclist who lost his life after being struck three times by vehicles southeast of the Ottawa County seat on Sunday evening has been disclosed, while the search continues for one of the drivers involved in the incident.
According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Armstrong, first responders were dispatched to Mercury Drive near Lake Avenue around 6:15 PM. That was where Deavieon White, who was pedaling northwest, was struck from behind by a sedan. The man was thrown from his two-wheeler and was subsequently hit by a southbound SUV and a third vehicle that drove off.
The cyclist was taken to an undisclosed Muskegon area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The two drivers who did stay at the scene – a 62-year-old Grand Haven man and a 44-year-old Grand Haven woman – were not hurt. Witnesses say that the vehicle that did drive off, southeast along Mercury Drive, was a white SUV with a woman passenger in her 50’s, but couldn’t give a description of the driver.
No names were immediately revealed as the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with any further information on the matter is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
