ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 3, 2025) โ It appears that Dr. Brandi-Lyn Mendham will not return as Superintendent of Zeeland Public Schools.
The district on Wednesday sent out an email to parents and other stakeholders, saying that the Board of Education, in a special meeting on Tuesday, voted to โengage an experienced search firm to support the district in selecting its next superintendent. This decision, made in collaboration with Dr. Mendham, reflects a desire to explore various perspectives, while ensuring the best possible leadership for our students, staff and families.โ
Dr. Mendham took a โtemporaryโ leave of absence on October 15th for undisclosed health reasons, with Matt Stolz, the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum, replacing her on an interim basis. Whether or not he will follow in her footsteps to become the full-time operational leader is not known. Mendham was in a similar position four years ago when she was promoted upon the retirement of Cal DeKuiper.
The district didnโt disclose a timeline for when a new superintendent would be named.
