ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 16, 2024) – Zeeland Public Schools will be without its operational leader for a while.
On Tuesday, the district announced that Dr. Brandi-Lyn Mendham has taken a temporary leave of absence from her superintendent duties due to undisclosed health-related reasons.
“I’ve decided to take a leave of absence to proactively focus on my health, not as a setback but as a commitment to my long term well being. I hope this decision can serve as a reminder to anyone managing a chronic condition that prioritizing your health is not a sign of weakness but a step toward strength and resilience.” – Dr. Brandi-Lyn Mendham
She will be replaced on an interim basis by Matt Stolz, the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum, with the intention of maintaining smooth-running district operations. No timeline for her return was immediately established.
Mendham became Zeeland’s operational leader in 2021, earning a promotion from the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum, when Cal DeKuiper retired.
