OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 13, 2025) – A statewide tornado drill is scheduled to take place next Wednesday at 1 PM. Emergency Management officials such as Lou Hunt with Ottawa County are urging people to use the drill to check their safety plans if and/or when twisters, straight-line winds, or other stormy conditions crop up, usually suddenly.
The drill is part of Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, and next Thursday, March 20, there will be a SKYWARN Spotter Training class for Ottawa and Kent county residents at Grand Rapids First Church (2100 44th St.) in Wyoming.
