LIVONIA, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the cutting of the U.S. Department of Education’s workforce by nearly 50% has her worried.
Whitmer said in metro Detroit yesterday that “there doesn’t seem to be a rationale, that is a long-term goal.”
She said there are a lot of ways to work toward improving educational outcomes that don’t cripple the Department of Education.
President Trump has said he wants to completely close the federal agency and turn education over to the states.
