GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 6, 2025) – It’s not a day to fight back, but a day to be aware.
The sixth annual “National Slam the Scam Day” is set for Thursday, as the US Social Security Administration and the Office of the Inspector General are teaming up to spotlight the ongoing and growing instances of imposters attempting to gain access to victims’ money or personal identification.
According to Hillary Hatch with the Social Security Administration regional office in Grand Rapids, deception is the scamsters’ biggest weapon, with a new scheme making the rounds.
The National Slam the Scam Day is part of the Federal Trade Commission’s National Consumer Protection Week, running through this Saturday. A link to more information is here.
