John Cornelius Van Munster, age 87, of Zeeland, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Holland Hospital.
John was born in the city of Deventer, the province of Overisel, Netherlands. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 and attended Holland Christian Schools. For 16 years he worked at, and was the co-owner of, Hemple’s Pastries in Holland, along with Jacob de Boer. He also worked as a baker for Russ’ Restaurants until he retired. He had many hobbies and interests. He loved gardening and always had beautiful flower gardens. He enjoyed woodworking and loved outdoor activities like biking and walking. He often spent his time baking wonderful Dutch pastries and enjoyed sharing them with friends and his family. John was a member of Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church.
John was a loving husband and adored his wife, Emma, of 66 years who survives him.

Funeral services are planned for 1:00pm Friday, January 3, 2025, at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave, Holland. Rev. Michael Van Kampen will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00-6:00pm Thursday, January 2, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St., Holland. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Hospice of Holland.
