SAUGATUCK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 24, 2024) – It may not be a gift under the Allegan County Road Commission’s Christmas Tree, but it could be a New Year’s wish granted in 2025.
At the top of Managing Director Craig Atwood’s list is securing funding for an estimated $8 million price tag to relocate Lakeshore Drive south of Saugatuck that has been affected by erosion for more than 35 years.
Atwood and his staff are working on a federal grant application to be submitted next month, along with seeking some assistance from Lansing to help with the matching fund requirement. Government officials at the Dumont Lake County Services Building are also working with Congressman Bill Huizenga’s office to help secure any discretionary funds from the US Department of Transportation.
