HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 19, 2024) – As Thanksgiving approaches, the needs of the homeless are spotlighted on this Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Sponsored by the National Coalition for the Homeless, it’s part of an overall National Homelessness Awareness Month that focuses attention on over 650,000 people experiencing not having a permanent residence, based on this past January’s annual Point in Time Count from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. That’s a 12 percent-plus increase from 2023, and more than half of those counted were unsheltered.
Lifeline Ministries held a forum on the matter at Graves Hall on the Hope College campus on Monday night, with Pastor Willie Watt among those heading up the discussion.
Talk is one thing, but action is another.
Lifeline Ministries is hosting a 5 PM chili dog dinner on Wednesday evening at their offices (426 Century Lane).
