GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 17, 2024) – An attempt to steal a vehicle ended with a crash and an arrest on Sunday night south of Grand Haven.
Deputies were called to a subdivision off of 144th Avenue and Mercury Drive around 9:45 PM on a report of a vehicle striking a residence. Upon arrival, they found that a driver will still inside, and that the vehicle was reported as stolen.
Using what Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chad Coulson called “less lethal tools,” the deputies were able to get the suspect out of the vehicle, and after being treated for bumps and bruises at the scene, the unnamed suspect was taken to the Ottawa County Jail pending arraignment in Grand Haven District Court on charges stemming from the incident.
Coulson did not go into details as to the circumstances that led to the crash, or did not go further as to the extent of damage done to the residence, as the investigation into this matter continues.
