LAKETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 14, 2024) – The search for a new operational leader in a Lakeshore community has taken its next step.
There were 38 applications submitted to Laketown Township officials by last Wednesday’s deadline for filling the vacancy that will be created by the upcoming retirement of Manager Al Meshkin on January 3rd.
The township board has set up an eight-member special search committee, to be headed by outgoing supervisor Linda Howell, that will go over those applications behind closed doors next Wednesday evening, October 23rd. The panel then will chose semifinalists for a series of public interviews the following two Wednesdays, October 30th and November 6th, before a newly-elected board makes the final decision.
Meshkin announced in July his intention to step down after 35 years as the township manager, and the board retained MGT at a $25,000 cost to conduct a search for his successor.
