LEIGHTON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 3, 2024) – One person was killed after attempting to cross a roadway northeast of Wayland on Thursday evening.
According to Allegan County Sheriff’s Sergeant Blair Kacos, that person was looking to cross 137th Avenue near 6th Street around 8 PM when struck by a westbound SUV. That pedestrian was declared dead at the scene, while the motorist was not hurt.
Deputies don’t believe that alcohol or speed were factors, but Kacos didn’t immediately disclose the names of either person involved in the incident, nor any other circumstances, as the matter remains under investigation.
