Hope College running back Chance Strickland has been selected to the D3Football Team of the Week.
The senior is receiving the honor for the first time. Strickland (Mason, Michigan / Mason HS) was recognized after rushing for a season-high 179 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries during Saturday’s 34-13 victory at nationally-ranked Alma College in the league opener.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 4-0 overall for their best start in 40 years.
The business and economics major scored on a 2-yard run, his NCAA Division III-leading 10th touchdown of the season.
Strickland moved into fourth place all-time at Hope with his 34th career touchdown.
Hope’s next game is Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. vs. Trine University and Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.
It’s the college’s annual Purple Community game benefiting Van Andel Institute.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds will provide internships for Hope students at Van Andel Institute.
