PORT SHELDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 27, 2024) – Two persons were injured when a motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle between Holland and Grand Haven on Friday afternoon.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cal Keuning, who was among first responders who were dispatched to the intersection of 144th Avenue and Van Buren Street just before 4 PM. It appeared that a 23-year-old Holland man, piloting his motorcycle northbound, crashed into the passenger vehicle that was driven by a 36-year-old Holland woman. The force of the collision sent the biker into a nearby ditch, causing serious injuries that necessitated a trip to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment. The motorist was also listed as hurt, although her injuries were not described.
Keuning noted that a motorcycle helmet was located at the scene, but away from the machine, and deputies couldn’t immediately determine if the biker was helmeted at the time of the collision, which remains under investigation.
