OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 27, 2024) – A 20-year-old suburban Detroit woman was hospitalized after she was struck pedaling her bicycle by a sedan around dusk on Thursday evening north of Zeeland.
First responders were dispatched to Fillmore Street near Allen Drive shortly after 7 PM. That was where the unnamed cyclist from Brownstown Township, who was heading east on the left shoulder, was hit by the westbound car, driven by an unnamed 34-year-old Fruitport man, who said that he had been distracted by the glare of the setting sun and drifted right past the white fog line.
The woman suffered what was described as non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Corewell-Zeeland Hospital for treatment; the motorist was not hurt. The incident remains under investigation.
