HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 26, 2024) – Strengthening community ties is behind a national initiative that the City of Holland is embracing this year.
Saturday is National Good Neighbor Day. The brainchild of Becky Mattson, a Montana woman who wanted to create opportunities to connect with and recognize the importance of strong leaders, it has been celebrated nationally since 2004.
Holland City Manager Keith Van Beek and his staff have picked up on the idea of addressing growing concerns about loneliness and social isolation.
The Hopeful Neighborhood Project is behind the effort to spark communities into action through setting up block parties, gatherings in local parks or backyards, and other efforts in creating and building strong relationships between neighbors.
