LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 26, 2024) – A Holland man is among a number of gubernatorial appointments to state panels announced on Thursday.
Jerry Payne, who commutes from the Tulip City to the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming in serving as a municipal mechanical inspector, was tabbed to the Michigan Board of Mechanical Rules for a four-year term. Payne has been at his position for 25 years, with experience in the residential and commercial sides of the mechanical trades, and is the Vice President of the Mechanical Inspectors Association of Michigan. The board makes recommendations for mechanical code rules, issues licenses to qualified applicants, and sets rules, regulations and orders necessary, as it combined the Michigan Board of Boiler Rules and Michigan Board of Mechanical Rules into one entity by Governor Whitmer’s executive order in July.
Payne’s appointment is subject to state Senate approval.
