HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 24, 2024) – Preserving Ottawa County’s rich agricultural heritage and financial base is behind the eighth annual Farms are the Tapas event on Tuesday evening.
No tickets are available for the festivities at the Red Shed west of Hudsonville, as chefs from six Lakeshore restaurants will incorporate locally-sourced ingredients into unique small-plate dishes that attendees will vote upon for the Harvest Knife Award. There will also be a silent auction for a variety of prizes.
It’s all to raise money for the Ottawa County Farmland Preservation Program, led by the county’s Agricultural and Economic Resources Coordinator Becky Huttenga.
So far, the program has protected 697 acres in six townships over the past eight years, with another 265 acres targeted. Financial donations for the effort are still ongoing, with an online link here.
