Sally Poest, 73, went to her heavenly home after a short battle with cancer on September 17, 2024. She was born in Holland, Michigan on December 7, 1950. Sally was a member of Christ Memorial Church. Sally graduated from Holland High School in 1969. She was married to Robert on January 12, 1973. After high school, Sally worked as a secretary at VerHage Motors until she became a mother. She was a stay at home mom until the children were older. She began working as a caterer at Hope College Creative Dining until her retirement in 2022.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, Gary and Pearl Schippa, and her sister and brother-in-law Sue and Robert Kammeraad. She is survived by her husband Robert, her children Elizbeth Poest and Emily Zamudio, sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley + (Nick) Hardie, Gary + (Barb) Schippa, Jim Schippa, and Dan + (Ev) Schippa. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brenda and Joel Sneller and Barb and Jim Harper.
Sally had a drive to serve others. She volunteered at her children’s schools and her church for many years. One of her passions was going on mission trips to Albania to serve in the orphanage. She helped organize Relay for Life activities in Holland/Zeeland for many years. Sally loved brightening other people’s days by giving them personal goodie bags of stuff they liked.
You could always find her on the red chair in the living room cheering on the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers enjoying Sluggos Pizza.
Services for Sally will be held on Saturday, September 21 at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, Michigan 49424. Funeral service at 11 am. There will be a visitation before at 10am. Private burial will take place at after the services.
