Dale A. Folkert, age 82, of Hamilton, MI went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded with love by family members whom he also loved dearly.
Dale was born on January 2, 1942, to Glenn and Minnie Folkert of Hamilton, MI. Along with his siblings, Glenn Jr. Folkert and Sharon (Jay) Lohman, Dale was a graduate of Holland Public Schools. He went on to graduate from Davenport University and worked a successful career programming computers for many companies, a job in which he found great enjoyment. Dale also loved to serve his brothers and sisters in Christ, recognized in his roles as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder.
Dale began a relationship with the love of his life, Marilyn, at the age of 20. Their marriage was filled with great trust, loyalty, and passion and the pair radiated true love. Together, they enjoyed traveling, finding hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and spending time with their five grandchildren.
Dale was a gentle, kind, and humble man who loved his family tremendously. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and unparalleled grandfather. Some of Dale’s passions and fondest memories included taking his grandchildren on trips and watching their sporting events. He could always be found in the stands, cheering them on with great pride and spirit. In his retirement, Dale enjoyed working for Inontime and doing handyman work in his barn. There was nothing that he couldn’t make or fix when he set his mind to it. Each Christmas, he made thoughtful and elaborate woodworking gifts for his family members, which they will continue to treasure. His family will miss his warm presence and contagious laugh deeply and will carry him in their hearts forever.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn Folkert; children, Lori (Cal) Topp and Scott (Jennifer) Folkert; and grandchildren, Kody and Emmett Topp and Justin, Jarrett and Aubree Folkert.
A Celebration of Life spaghetti luncheon, Dale’s favorite food, is planned for 12:00-1:30pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Overisel Reformed Church, 4706 142nd Ave., Holland, 49423. A private, family-only graveside service is planned at Riverside Cemetery. Our family would like to extend our gratitude to Dale’s doctors and nurses for their excellent and compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s honor to the Autoimmune Association, 22100 Gratiot Ave., East Pointe, MI, 48021. Arrangements are by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home and condolences may be left online at www.langelandsterenberg.com.
