Patricia Ann Francis (Pat) passed away peacefully in her sleep September 6, 2024 at the age of 89. Pat was born July 13, 1935 to Hugh and Nelly Jones in Utica, New York. She met, fell in love with, and married John Charles Francis. John and Pat raised their four sons in New York and moved to Holland, Michigan in 1980 when John was offered a job transfer. Pat was a woman of faith and enjoyed her career as a secretary at Textron. She was especially proud of achieving the Professional Secretaries International designation prior to her retirement and her decades long membership in the Red Hat Society.
Eventually, Pat and John started snow birding to Tucson, Arizona where they made new friends and enjoyed walks and hikes in the desert parks and mountains. After John’s retirement, they moved to Tucson full-time and basked in the sunshine together until John’s death in 2009. Pat returned to Holland in 2022 and most recently resided at the Lighthouse Memory Care building of American House.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her brother Richard, her son Richard, her great-grandson Jagger Hoogendoorn, and her great-granddaughter Emerson Hoogendoorn. She leaves behind her sons Steven, John Jr. a.k.a. Jack (Barb), and David (Marti), five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, Rick and Leatitia Francis (Marina and Milo), Michael Francis, Vanessa and Casey Warren (Casey Daniel and Katherine), Ami and Kevin Hoogendoorn (Gunnar and Breslyn), and Stephen and Jessica Francis (Avery, Maison, Jackson, and Logan).
Pat’s interment will take place privately in Tucson, Arizona, where her final earthly resting place will be next to her husband John. The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the kindness, patience, respect, and tender care provided by the staff at American House and Hospice of Holland. You were a blessing to Pat and our family.
Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s honor to Hospice of Holland, Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes Foundation, or the ChadTough Defeat DIPG Foundation.
Sorry for your loss, prayers for comfort & peace.
