Elizabeth Susan Bigwood, age 78, passed peacefully on to Heaven while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024.
Susan devoted her life to and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Not a day went by without Susan talking about all their individual accomplishments. She lived life to the fullest for her family until the last day. Susan enjoyed baking delicious treats, crafting, camping, and going to the beach daily.
Susan was passionate about Marching Bands, in fact she met her husband, Don, at marching band camp in high school. Susan continued to actively participate in activities with the band for both her children and grandchildren right up until the very end.
Susan’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she set treasured family traditions and created cherished memories with her fondness for decorating and preparing a large family dinner.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Donald Bigwood; their three children, Robert Bigwood, Tamara Bigwood, and Tom Bigwood; four grandchildren, Erik, Matthew, Sarah, and Emily Bigwood; her brother, William Markes; her sister, Fran Renton; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Rev. Chris Dorn will be officiating.
The visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 10 at the Dykstra Funeral Homes – Northwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation; glioblastomafoundation.org.
