HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 5, 2024) – Tweaking the Unified Development Ordinance highlighted Wednesday night’s scheduled bi-weekly business meeting for the Holland City Council.
A total of 10 proposed amendments before the governing panel had a procedural second reading and a lengthy discussion before they were passed unanimously. The changes involve cemeteries, recycle centers, deferred parking, structural standards and more, and according to City Manager Keith Van Beek, there was no public comment last month when the city’s Planning Commission recommended these proposals for passage.
The UDO was first passed three years ago in an effort to combine Holland’s zoning, trees, streets and sidewalks, and subdivision ordinances into a single regulatory document, in order to better implement the city’s master plan by governing private development.
