Evelyn Kolean passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2024.
Evelyn Marie Kolean was born to Cornelius and Marie Dutmer on April 4,1941 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Evelyn was the youngest of three. Cornelius (Marks), Kathleen and then Evelyn. She graduated from Union High School in 1959. After graduation Evelyn went to work at American Seating.
Evelyn met Bill on a blind date and went for a pontoon ride. They were married on June 30, 1961. Evelyn then moved to Holland and worked in area businesses in the office. This continued until the children came into the family.
Evelyn was active at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church visiting shut-ins until Parkinson’s took away her movement. Evelyn loved cats, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Karla, son William (Jennifer) Kolean, sister Kathleen Coffee, nieces and nephews Jeff Coffee, John R (Kathy) and Anne Coffee, David Dutmer and Devere Kelley.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cornelius and Marie Dutmer, brother Cornelius (Marks) Dutmer, brother-in-law John C Coffee and nephew John James Coffee.
A special thanks to Joyce Evink and Joann Heetderks for helping Karla with respite care for Evelyn during the last couple of years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Avenue in Holland. Rev. Jim Scholten will be officiating. A luncheon will take place afterwards. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church Memorial Fund, Harbor Humane Society, or the Day Center of Evergreen. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Downtown Chapel.
