GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 16, 2024) – The search is over for an 82-year-old man who went missing overnight north of Hudsonville.
Family members said that Stephen Sietsema was last seen at his home in the vicinity of Port Sheldon Street and 28th Avenue around 11 PM on Thursday. Suffering from mobility issues and dementia, the 5-9, 290-pound man with white balding hair was apparently wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt, black sweatpants, black socks and no shoes when he disappeared, probably by foot.
Around 5:45 PM, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tammenga announced that Mr. Sietsema had been located safely, and after getting a medical clearance, he was returned to his family. Deputies from both Ottawa and Kent counties had deployed K-9 teams and drones during the search, and a number of volunteers had stepped up to augment those efforts. Tammenga didn’t give any details as to where Mr. Sietsema had eventually been located.
