HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 8, 2024) – A long-time figure in community service along the Lakeshore wants to spend more time with her grandchildren.
On Monday, Linda Falstad announced that she is resigning as a member of the Holland Board of Education, effective immediately, after nearly eight years of service. Her community work began with Kids Hope USA at Calvary Reformed Church in 1996, and since then, she served two terms as an at-large member of the Holland City Council, founded the Heights of Hope nonprofit, spent 13 years as a graduate level professor at Grand Valley State University, and ran her own non-profit consulting firm.
“It has been a pleasure to be part of a growing, vibrant public school district for nearly eight years. I have and always will be a supporter of public education. I am a product of public education from K-18. Being a member of the Holland Board of Education is part of being a lifelong learner. I look forward to working as a grandmother and private citizen with the Board of Education and Holland Public Schools as together we “embrace, engage, educate and empower each student for success in an ever-changing world.” – Linda Falstad
Holland Public Schools has opened up the application process for a new board trustee, with an August 19th deadline. The board will then conduct interviews and probably select a new member in a special August 26th meeting, to serve the remainder of Falstad’s term, which runs through the November 3, 2026 General Election.
