HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 5, 2024) – The first Tuesday in August is more than just an annual election day window in Michigan.
It’s the 40th anniversary of the National Night Out campaign aimed at promoting and improving partnerships between communities and its law enforcement/first responder entities under positive circumstances. Such initiatives not only improve relationships between the public and those sworn to serve and protect them, but it also strengthens bonds between neighbors.
In Holland, the National Night Out festivities run from 5:30 to 8 PM at Kollen Park, with a flag ceremony, championship martial arts demonstration, food trucks, a DJ, displays from more than 25 community resource groups, the Polar Patrol Ice Cream Truck and more.
Fire Marshal Bret Groendyke will head up the Holland Public Safety Fire Services contingent.
As for the Police presence…
Other Lakeshore communities holding National Night Out activities include Zeeland, Douglas, Georgetown Township and Wayland.
