GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 26, 2024) – Although organizers try to claim that it’s the “best festival along the Lakeshore,” which could be considered “fightin’ words” around these parts because of the Tulip Time Festival, the 100th anniversary of the Coast Guard Festival kicks off on Friday evening in Grand Haven.
Running through August 4th, the 10-day celebration that honors a branch of the US military that may not get the general acclaim of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines features performances, competitions, fireworks and more.
Besides the Coast Guard, other nautical units will also join in the festivities, including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department’s Marine Unit, headed up by Sergeant Jon Knott.
