LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 18, 2024) – Developing the future at West Michigan Regional Airport and other aviation facilities across the state is behind a series of grants announced in Lansing on Wednesday.
Sharing in $6.25 million in Advanced Aerial Mobility Activation Funds is BETA Technologies, who will get $2.6 million to what state officials say is creating a foundational intrastate charging network for supporting operations of next generation aircrafts, while driving down costs for the Holland-based airport, as well as at Cherry Capital Airport near Traverse City, Capital Region International Airport near Lansing, and Willow Run Airport near Ypsilanti. BETA is a Vermont-based firm looking to build an all-electric fleet for governmental and commercial purposes.
The AAM Activation Fund is a collaborative effort between the state agencies of the Department of Transportation, the Office of Future Mobility, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
