PORT SHELDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 14, 2024) – A 38-year-old Grand Rapids man lost his life in Lake Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
Bystanders had to pull the unnamed swimmer out of the waters south of the Pigeon Lake Pier around 3:30 PM. He had been about 100 yards away from the shoreline when he foundered. First responders took over first aid effort after bystanders began CPR, but they were unable to revive the victim.
The circumstances that led to this incident were not disclosed as an investigation continues.
