A valedictorian of Zeeland High School’s class of 1948, Ruth furthered her education at Lansing Community College and Hope College. She founded Diemer Accounting and Tax Services in Holland in 1965, where she was referred to as “The Sarge.” She worked diligently until her retirement at age 89. Ruth was also known for teaching aspects of income taxes and accounting that helped many in her community.
Ruth was a devoted member of the Harderwyk CRC for many years, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Coordinator for Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School teacher. She had a passion for Special Needs children often including them in her class. Later, she joined Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Holland. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident through her active participation and leadership in various church programs.
Beyond her professional and religious commitments, Ruth enjoyed sewing, crocheting, caring for animals, and managing her business. Her hobbies reflected her meticulous nature and her love for nurturing life in all its forms.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Diemer, and her sisters, Jane Lemson, Madeline Lampen, and Eunice Lemson. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Wanda Ridlington, Lila Diemer, and Kenneth Diemer; three grandchildren: Kevin Ridlington (Kathy), Eric Ridlington (Traci), and David Ridlington (Kelli); five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Visitation for Ruth will be held at Parkside Bible Church, 14461 James Street in Holland on Saturday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
Ruth Diemer’s legacy of faith, education, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her family invites all who knew her to join in celebrating her remarkable life.
