PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 9, 2024) – A 64-year-old Park Township man is in custody after a Monday arrest on possession and distribution of child sexually abusive material.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Jake Sparks, the apprehension of David Fredrick Schackow at his home culminated a nine month-long investigation that was begun by the US Homeland Security Investigations team’s office in Grand Rapids. Hundreds of thousands of images and videos were seized.
Schackow was initially suspected last October, and last month, there was enough evidence for Ottawa County Prosecutor Lee Fisher to issue charges. The suspect was arrested without incident, and on Tuesday, he was arraigned in 58th District Court on two counts of both aggravated distribution of child sexually abusive activity and child sexually abusive material. He remains held on $50,000 bond.
The case remains open, and anyone with any further information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
