OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 8, 2024) – For the most part, Ottawa County is continuing to see population growth.
In US Census Bureau estimated numbers disclosed on Monday by county government, Jamestown Township showed the highest rate of population increase over the past year at 2.5 percent, two tenths better than Grand Haven Township. Since the last census was taken in 2020, the area south of the county seat has seen a 6.3 percent increase in population.
Locally, the city of Holland grew by 1.4 percent over the past year, but neighboring Zeeland saw a half a percentage point drop, and since 2020, 1.3 percent fewer people continue to “Feel the Zeel.”
It may be a case of being a land-locked community, according to Zeeland Mayor Kevin Klynstra.
