BLENDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 4, 2024) – A 19-year-old Hudsonville man was hospitalized after a fiery single-vehicle crash north of Zeeland late on Wednesday night.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and other first responders were dispatched around 11:45 PM to the area of 96th Avenue near Bingham Street on a report of a sedan that had rolled over and was ablaze. The lone motorist was able to get out of the vehicle by the time crews arrived.
It appeared that the unnamed driver was heading northbound when he lost control of the sedan, which veered to the right and into a deep ditch. It then landed on its roof and caught fire. Blendon Township firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, while the motorist was taken to Corewell-Zeeland Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
