SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 3, 2024) – A Lakeshore community is continuing its efforts to get a handle on short term rentals.
No action will be taken during Wednesday’s Saugatuck City Council workshop, but the governing panel will be going over a recommendation by the city’s planning commission to adopt a 20 percent cap on new short-term rental licenses in the R-1 Residential District, based on the number of dwelling units in that area. Those who already have a STR license can keep them, among other provisions included. Council will consider an ordinance proposal that would incorporate the provisions of the commission’s recommendations.
Saugatuck is already working on enforcing new short-term rental statutes, according to city manager Ryan Cummins.
The Saugatuck City Council workshop is at 4 PM in the second-floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
