DEARBORN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 2, 2024) – As the extended Independence Day holiday period nears the midway point, gas prices are high and calls for help are expected to remain high.
Triple-A’s daily canvassing of stations across Michigan showed an average of $3.66 a gallon as of Tuesday morning. It’s 15 cents higher than a week ago, a dime more than on May 2nd, and 11 pennies more per gallon than at this time in 2023. Ottawa County’s mean stands at $3.72, a nickel below that of neighboring Allegan County.
Adrienne Woodland of the Auto Club’s Michigan office says that, at least, fuel supply is good.
In Michigan alone, that figure is projected to be 2.6 million traveling 50 miles or more from home. Along those lines, Triple A expects to rescue nearly 800,000 stranded motorists during the holiday.
The Auto Club also is offering its “Tow to Go” service for impaired drivers. The Independence Day holiday travel period began last Friday and runs through this coming Sunday.
