HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, July 1, 2024) – Some teens out for an apparent joy ride in a luxury car overnight on Monday had their evening abruptly ended in a crash.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies spotted a gray Mercedes driving recklessly around 2:30 AM on Holland’s North Side. A brief chase ensued, ending with the vehicle slamming into a building near the intersection of Butternut Drive and Riley Street, knocking out the traffic signal at that junction. The building was unoccupied at the time, and the youths in the vehicle all had minor injuries.
The case will be handled in the Ottawa County Juvenile justice system due to the ages of those in the Mercedes, as the matter remains under investigation.
