Bob was born in Holland, MI to Marvin and Bernice Rotman. Bob was the oldest of four boys who all share fond memories of growing up and working as teens in the Holland area. Bob attended MSU and met and married Marlene VanKampen. Bob served in the United States Army prior to going into teaching and school administration. Together Bob and Marlene had three children and shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Bob loved spending time with his family and cherished those special moments. He and Marlene particularly treasured time with their grandchildren and loved encouraging each of them in their gifts and talents. Bob also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and had a special love for traveling, having been to many different countries in their retirement years. Bob was a great teacher, friend, and neighbor who was always willing to help people out and give his best to everything he did. He was a man of strong faith, and was a longtime member of Providence Church in Holland.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Marvin and Bernice Rotman.
Bob is survived by loving wife Marlene; children Stacey (Gary)Swanson, Greg (Abby) Rotman, and Eric (Dawn) Rotman as well as 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Dave (Dorothy) Rotman, Paul (Barbara) Rotman and Jack Rotman (Susan Mac Fadden) as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Wednesday, July 3 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Providence Church – 821 Ottawa Ave. Holland, MI 49423. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM on July 3, followed by private burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mission Fund for Providence Church.
